This is great news for us, Android lovers, Android 4.0 ICS ported to HTC G1. This great news is coming from XDA developer’s member who success to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the old Android smartphone from HTC. HTC G1 was the first Android smartphone in 2008. Fortunately many independent Android software developers have been working to provide every major new Android OS version over the past few years until now where the new Android OS version just ported to HTC G1 even still in initial stage.

However this is initial stage of Android 4.0 ICS ported to HTC G1. So, some stuff is not working yet such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and automatic screen rotation where the graphical user interface sill looks pretty sluggish. But others stuff now working such as touchscreen, data, all apps, and Android 4.0 ICS goodies with pretty impressive performance.
The new Roboto font as one of the new feature of Android 4.0 ICS works as well including the app drawer with shortcuts for apps and widgets. And we will have quick access to camera once unlock the Android 4.0 ICS screen. Well, it is quite good progress to install the Android 4.0 ICS to HTC G1. Hopefully in next release all not working stuff will work flawlessly with HTC G1.
