New HTC Desire Firmware Update has already available. But the update only for the unlocked Desire handset while for locked handset still no word. The update firmware which available for the HTC Desire firmware version up to 2.29.405.2. No news regarding the update firmware if use to locked Desire handset, So do it your own risk if you insist to upgrade locked Desire handset with this firmware.

No changelog so far which belong to the firmware. But the update file has 28.87MB size and this is a simple maintenance release by suggested from Desire users. If you do upgrade, just ensure you have 25MB of free internal storage before the update will be granted to you. You can check on the update as always through your ‘Settings/About Phone System software updates’ menu.

2.29 is close enough to Android 2.3 version. Some rumors speculate that the device will be preparing for Gingerbread. But once more, still no news regarding the upgrading to Android 2.3. Hopefully, the update Android 2.3 for HTC Desire not longer since the Gingerbread release for the first time.
