Today I just upgrade Xperia X10 to kernel 2.3.4 with ROM from Xperia S. This is a custom ROM that allows you to use some features from Xperia S and Xperia Play. Perhaps later I will describe more detail how to upgrade Xperia X10 to ROM of Xperia S. I need a whole day to upgrade from stock ROM 2.3.3 Gingerbread, than unlock the bootloader before install the custom kernel with maximum overclocking setting.
But for now I just want to share how to play Samurai II Vengeance THD on Xperia X10. The game is exclusively for Tegra based Android devices, but with some tricks below you can play it on Xperia X10 even the phone doesn’t have Tegra.
Before you can play the Samurai II Vengeance THD, you need to download Chainfire3D Android app. Better if you get it from Google Play Store but you can download the APK file to install manually.
Things You Need before you set X10 to play Tegra based Android games
- Rooted Xperia X10, click here if you need to root your X10
- Chainfire3D Pro, download from Play Store or download APK
- Samurai II Vengeance THD for Tegra (as sample), download from Play Store or download APK
Now please follow the following instructions below to ensure you have correct setting especially for Chainfire3D because it needs to configure the 3 plug-in that help you to play Android games for Nvidia, PowerVR, and Qualcomm.
Chainfire3D is an intermediary OpenGL driver. What does that mean? It means that Chainfire3D sits between your apps and the graphics drivers, and can intercept and/or change commands between the two. It has some built-in functions, and can be further extended with plug-in to provide extra functionality. Unfortunately the Chainfire3D is for 1ghz+ devices only, if you have Android device less than 1Ghz processor than you should stop to playing the game.
The Chainfire3D is also required the root access that need by the app to write on /system partition while S-OFF is also required on HTC devices. However you will find some features on Chainfire3D reduced texture size and quality to reduce memory use and potentially increase game performance as well as increasing memory use potentially increase performance.
