Rooting Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
The Xperia X10 is the high-end Android phone from Sony Ericsson. The its X10 has other variants such as X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. But like others Android phone, the X10 series has locked by Sony Ericsson. However some developers has already success to unlocked the phone and get the root access to further development since Sony Ericsson just support up to Android 2.1 Eclair.
Just a few days ago, Sony Ericsson has already announce their extend support to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread into Xperia X10 at the moment, but no for others X10 phone series. But the update for X10 to Gingerbread still takes time, and would be release on Q3 or Q4 this year.
And now, Sony Ericsson has already release new Xperia series Android phone such as Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ pro and Xperia™ PLAY to the market and hopefully will help Sony Ericsson to lift up their position as the top Android phone manufacture.
And the critical question has been raised, how to rooting Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ pro and Xperia™ PLAY. The answer for the question is not needed since SE has plans to release the phone with unlocking the boot loader.
However, please note the warranty of your phone may void if you unlock the boot loader. And if you ask Sony Ericsson to perform a warranty repair, they will charge some bucks to you as handling fee. It occurs when they found modified phone software during repair activity.
Some precautions also provide by SE when you install custom unsigned ROM to Xperia Phone, certain functions may cease to work and would effect to the phone performance. In worst case, the phone will damage permanently due to overheating issue.
So, no need to unlock the boot loader since the boot loader has already unlock by Sony Ericsson. Hopefully, some signed ROMs would be release by SE or by other developer and SE just mark the ROM as the signed ROM for Xperia Arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro.
