Samsung has other weapon to challenge Apple, after release Galaxy S to head to head with iPhone 4, Galaxy Tab to replace iPad, and then Galaxy Player will release soon to replace iPod touch. It confirms release on CES 2011. Like with Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Player will use Android as the Operating System. Not sure why Bada as the OS from Samsung not used on Galaxy Player.

The Player has a VGA front facing camera. It will available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB storage capacities. It has 9.9 mm thickness, runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, a 1GHz CPU, 4-inch Super Clear LCD screen supporting up to WVGA resolution (800×480), T-DMB, SoundAlive audio enhancing technology, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.2MP rear camera with front facing camera for video calling, GPS, HD video playback, and microSD card slot. It can access Android Market and Samsung Apps and a 1200mAh removable battery.

Samsung release the Galaxy Player as their implementation after inspiring from its successful galaxy S android phone because as we know above, the specs of galaxy player similar except the cellular connectivity.

Hopefully, it will give us more options to buy a music player. No word regarding the price for Galaxy Player, but surely more cheaper than iPod touch. However Samsung is also expected to show other Android PMPs like YP-G50 and hopefully the recently certified YP-GB70.
