Now we can use SlingPlayer for Android Tablets which already available for download from Android Market. SlingPlayer allows Slingbox owners to stream live or recorded TV over the Internet. The app is now works on tablets running Android 3.0 and up with a new user interface designed for high resolution displays.
We can adjust screen aspect ratios, access a program guide, or access other setting from the app. With SlingPlayer for Android tablets, we can also pull up an on-screen remote control as well as like the remote control for the cable box, DVR, or other home theatre you’re accessing from the internet.
To use SlingPlayer for Android Tablets, we need a Slingbox Solo or Slingbox Pro-HD while the Slingbox PRO, AV, Tuner and Classic will not work at all. To enjoying the video stream in High Quality mode, we need at least 600kbps of bandwidth if you use Slingbox Pro-HD and 800kbps if you use Slingbox SOLO.
Unfortunately like the smartphone app, the new version of SlingPlayer for Android tablets costs $29.99. It is quite expensive for an Android app, but cheaper than a portable TV. However if you insist to use SlingPlayer for Android tablets, you can download and install directly to your phone from Android Market. But if you think the app is not worth to buy due to the price, please watch the video below to give you more input before to decide to spend some dollars to purchase the SlingPlayer for Android Tablets.
For now, I did not use the app because none of Android tablets in my hand. I’ve try to buy Amazon Kindle Fire that releases soon at 15 November 2011. Hopefully the Kindle Fire would be good tablet to enjoy the stream video over SlingPlayer for Android Tablets.
