Horray since today you can update Sony Xperia Mini Pro to Android 4.0 ICS. This is good news for Sony Xperia Mini Pro owners to bring a new life of the phone to the next level of Android version. The update is very good and the phone runs pretty much as fast as it did before. So, who said that Android ICS is only for high-end devices?
Sony Xperia Mini Pro updated to Android 4.0 is as the answer from Sony to fulfill their customer request and now Sony do their best job to bring the latest and greatest Android OS version to its entire line-up of mobile devices. For this update, Sony just make happy their users unlike Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and LG are all upsetting their users with delays and lack of communication on the Android 4.0 ICS updates.
Sony Xperia Mini Pro is powered by a single-core 1 Ghz Qualcomm Scorpion processor and 512MB of RAM. These specifications are quite enough to use Xperia Mini Pro as the basic phone with a little bit if fun to enjoying the multimedia entertainment. The phone utilized with a quirky 3-inch slide out QWERT keyboard and 320×480 pixels resolution touchscreen. Sony Xperia Mini Pro classified as mid-range Android phone but fortunately Sony has still found a way to support Android ICS on the phone.
I hope this update will remembering Sony if another great phone called as Xperia X10 with same specifications except amount of RAM needs their attention to get the update to Android 4.0 ICS. Even the custom ROM and custom kernel available in Internet but getting the official update to Android 4.0 for X10 will highly appreciate from the X10′s owner including me.
For now, I am still using X10 with custom kernel from DoomLord and custom ROM X10S that ported ROM of Sony Xperia S to Xperia X10. So far the X10 is running well with a new user interface and ability from Xperia S. But honestly, I would like to use the official update Android 4.0 ICS from Sony for Xperia X10.
The Android 4.0 ICS is currently rolling out to the most Xperia Mini Pro models worldwide but don’t expect the update OTA over-the-air, but you need to connect your phone to the PC and install Android 4.0 ICS using Sony’s PC Companion software. This update method is same for all Sony’s Android devices to ensure you’ve downloaded the correct update. But of course the alternative method by installing through xrecovery will available soon in Internet and perhaps some developers use the stock ROM Xperia Mini Pro Android ICS than modify it to improve the performance of the phone.
Now let’s prepare again your PC with good internet connection to update your phone to the latest and greatest Android OS version, Android 4.0 ICS. It will be very interesting to see how older Android phone like the Sony Xperia Mini Pro handles the new Android OS package.
