Sony has just release its new Xperia Android phone called as Xperia Sola. Yes of course, it comes with superior specifications to contender others Android manufacturer to attract Android’s fan to buy it. But we interesting with new technology that belong with Sony Xperia Sola. The new technology offers by Sony on Xperia Sola called as “floating touch” as a major selling point.
Sony Xperia Sola can detect when a finger is hovering over the screen, not necessary to made contact on the screen. This is very interesting and become new ways of interacting with touchscreens. The Xperia Sola allows users to hover their fingers over the screen like a cursor when selecting links on Sola’s browser.
But this magical touch on Xperia Sola need more elaborated to know how “floating touch”. Fortunately one of Sony engineer explains what’s exactly involved to the “floating touch” technology on Xperia Sola. In short term, the Sony Xperia Sola contains two types of capacitive sensor. There’s a mutual-capacitive sensor, used for multi-touch, and a self-capacitive sensor, which generates a stronger signal, allowing it to detect conductive objects (like your greasy paws) from further away. Self-capacitive sensors aren’t multi-touch capable, and mutual-capacitive sensors aren’t strong enough to detect objects at a distance, but if you combine both in a single screen, you get the best of both worlds, multi-touch when you’re touching the screen, and floating touch when you’re not.
However you can find the detail explanation regarding the floating touch from original source page. In there you will find how this magic technology works. And don’t forget to visit the demo video of floating touch below to know more a little bit detail when floating touch works.
